Africa Community Technical Service Society - Building clean water delivery systems for Ugandan communities

ACTS received $4000 to help a rural community in Southwest Uganda build a community tap stand receiving water through a Gravity Flow System which will help men, women, girls and boys to fight disease, poverty and violence. The Project is community driven and has a focus on education and clean water management so that the local population will take full ownership for maintaining and financing the water system at the end of the project.

CARE Canada – Improving the health and well-being of mothers and children in Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia

CARE Canada will receive $4000 to help fund year 3 of a 4-year Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies project. The project includes nutrition education, promoting agricultural practices that strengthen access to and consumption of nutritious foods, improving water and sanitation and empowering women through micro-financing entrepreneurial initiatives in their own communities. TJF provided funds in 2017 for the same project.

Children’s Care International – Fighting child exploitation in India and Thailand

Children’s Care International received $4000 to help free children from exploitation such as child labour, slavery and exploitation. Over the past decade they have helped free more than 5000 children and their families. The funds will provide schooling for children and awareness-raising for their parents.

EcoEquitable - Providing employment and skills training for new immigrant women and the underemployed

EcoEquitable is an Ottawa charity that provides immigrant and underemployed women with sewing training, financial literacy, hands-on experience and individual mentoring in order to be a bridge to a sustainable livelihood and long-term employment. This year the project received $4000 to expand its industrial sewing production and thus promote further self-sustainability. This is a “green”organization which uses recycled and unsold fabrics.

OneProsper International – Empowering girls in the Thar Desert, India by facilitating school attendance and using effective agricultural practices to raise family income levels

OneProsper received $4000 to support 7 to 8 families --with 2 girls each-- who live in the Thar Desert, one of the most impoverished regions in India. The project involves building rainwater harvesting tanks and training of the families to grow grains, vegetables and fruit trees with seeds provided and using specific farming methods. A bio sand filter is also provided. Girls are freed from carrying water for hours and receive a bicycle, school supplies and tuition to attend school instead. The project is in its second year and hopes to enable 80 girls to attend school this year.

WaterCan/EauVive Canada (previously called WaterAid Canada) – Providing clean water and sanitation in birthing clinics

In 2019 WaterCan/EauVive Canada continued to receive funding in the amount of $4000 to partially fund the third year of the Deliver Life Project in rural Tanzania. The goal of the Project is to reduce maternal, newborn and child mortality through the provision of clean water, sanitation and hygiene services. At twelve targeted clinics, mothers will be able to give birth safely, with clean water and expert care.

Inter Pares - Maternal health clinics in the Philippines

Inter Pares, a Canadian social justice organization, received $5000 in funding for the Likhaan Center for Women's Health in the Philippines. Likhaan provides comprehensive primary health care and family planning clinics as well as support to youth groups in the areas of peer sex education and LGBTQ rights.

Care Canada works with families, communities and health authorities to improve agriculture, nutrition, water supplies, hygiene, sanitation and promotes equality and the empowerment of women. This initiative received $3000.

WaterAid Canada - Providing clean water and sanitation for schools in Africa

WaterAid Canada received $1000 to allow 25 schools access to safe water, basic toilets and hygiene education to help children realize their potential and prepare them for a healthy life.

Cause Canada - Ebola Prevention Support for People with Disabilities

Cause Canada is a long-time partner of TJF. This year we are providing Cause Canada with $2000 to help fund its Ebola Prevention Support for People with Disabilities, which involves teaching disabled people how to prevent the transmission of the Ebola virus, as well as providing hand-washing stations and protective equipment.

The Women's Empowerment International Foundation (WEIF) - Microcredit loans for women entrepreneurs in Pakistan

WEIF, a registered Canadian charity, has partnered with a local Pakistani organisation to provide Pakistani women with low interest loans to set up small businesses. To date there has been a 100% repayment rate. WEIF will receive $6,350 to establish a second office in another remote area (Hunza) in order to support an additional 100 entrepreneurial women.

Cause Canada - Infant nutrition in Sierre Leone

Cause Canada, a longtime TJF partner, will receive $3,000 to help fund the Moyamba Infant Nutrition Project in Sierre Leone. The project monitors the nutrution of infants and trains the mothers on proper nutrition through Mothers Clubs.

Centre for Youth of Hope (CEYOHO) - Countering AIDS in Botswana - $4,000

CEYOHO is an NGO that targets young people living with and affected by AIDS. The project would effectively establish a mobile kitchen, from which affected women will be able to operate a sustainable catering business. The mobile tent and equipment could also be rented out to provide another form of income. This will not only provide the affected women with an income, but an occupation. One of Trinity`s members worked with CEYOHO for several months in 2012 (shown here).

Cause Canada - Birthing Huts in Sierra Leone - Up to $3,000

Sierra Leone has one of the worst maternal and child mortality rates in the world. Although this is being addressed in the larger communities, services are still severely limited for the 60% of rural Sierra Leoneans. Through this funding, TJF will continue its long-standing partnership with Cause Canada in Sierra Leone to assist in countering this tragic fact. Specifically, Cause will use the funding towards building more birthing huts and outfitting them with furniture and medicine, and provide training for Mothers Club Leaders. Cause will also perform acute malnutrition screening for children under five.

Project TEMBO - Learning in Longido, Tanzania - Up to $3,000

TJF has assisted Project TEMBO in the past. Since 2004, Project TEMBO has been sponsoring girls from Longido, on the Kenyan border of Tanzania, for secondary education. The children of Longido, especially the girls, must overcome many obstacles if they are to be successful in school. The current plan is to encourage a community environment in which education is valued, and right of girls to attend school is recognised. Specifically, the funding will be used towards building a resource centre which will serve the community.

$5,000 for Canadian Hunger Foundation in North Pakistan

This funding is to help provide drinking water to the 162 villages in Northern Pakistan devastated by the 2005 earthquake. Some villages are provided with wells, and some with piped water from a distant spring or tank.

$3,000 for Cause Canada to assist sustainable agriculture in Sierra Leone

This is a continuation of the partnership between Trinity Jubilee Foundation and Cause Canada, through which assistance has been provided to extend and outfit a school in a rural village, and to assist food self-sufficiency there.

$8,500 for Cause Canada for schooling in Sierra Leone

This funding allows one hundred students at the school in Sulamania to receive breakfast, hot lunch, uniforms, shoes, books and school supplies. Workshops and distance education also allow teachers to upgrade their teaching skills.

$2,000 to Multifaith Housing Initiative (MHI) in Ottawa

There are over 9000 people on the City of Ottawa’s waiting list for social housing. This funding supports MHI in their goal of purchasing low cost rental units and maintaining them for lower-income households.

$9,370 to Cause Canada for schooling in Sierra Leone

Fulfilling the specific needs identified for the school in Sulamania which TJF has supported for the last two years. Provided the renovation of three classrooms, books for the library and teacher training.

$4,000 to Arctic Children and Youth Foundation (ACYF)

ACYF is a new registered charity, chaired by Susan Aglukark, which works towards improving both the home and community environments in the arctic. ACYF objectives include working with governments to reduce smoking, substance abuse, and suicide amongst young people of the arctic; improve conflict resolution, literacy, numeracy, and technological capacity.

Sierra Leone: Support to a New School in Sulamania

$10,400 was donated in 2009 through Cause Canada specifically to support a new school in the village of Sulamania in Sierra Leone. School supplies and uniforms were provided for 200 children, who otherwise would not have been able to attend school. Mosquito nets were provided to all the students to guard against malaria, a major hazard in the area. In addition, a meal program was made available which attracted many more children to school and allowed for better nutrition of the children, resulting in better learning potential.

Tanzania: Project TEMBO Guesthouse $1,500 was also donated in 2009 to continue to support Project TEMBO in Tanzania.

Project TEMBO is a registered Canadian charity that provides funding and support primarily, but not exclusively, to girls and women pursuing educational and small business goals in the Maasai homeland of rural northern Tanzania, T.J.F.’s contribution was directed toward a Guesthouse that is being built. The Guesthouse will provide on-going employment and income in the project area.

$6,000 to continue assisting the Cause Canada education program in Sierra Leone to help provide schooling, health and nutrition programs, and community development support for disadvantaged children; twenty five children supported by this program corresponded with children in Ottawa.

$2,500 to CanHave to further assist in equipping a vocational school for AIDS orphans in Uganda.
